The Political Philosophy group comprises:

· Political Philosophy (Professor Furio Cerutti),

· Social Philosophy (Professor Elena Pulcini),

· Bioethics (Senior Researcher with teaching appointment Monica Toraldo di Francia),

· Theories of the State (Senior Researcher with teaching appointment Dr. Dimitri D’Andrea).

· Post-doctoral fellow Chiara Bottici, Ph.D. (EUI), and Renata Badii, Ph.D. (U. of Florence).

We meet every month in a Seminar of Political Philosophy, in which we discuss our own as well as our graduate students’ research projects.

As a research unit, the Group also includes Dr. Daniela Belliti, Dr. Debora Spini (Syracuse U.) and doctoral candidates Claudia Attucci (European University Institute, Fiesole) and Elena Acuti (in this Department). In this composition, the Group has been working since 1998 on philosophical aspect of globalization for the national research projects coordinated by F. Cerutti and funded by the Italian Ministry of University also publishing Filosofie della globalizzazione, edited by D. D’Andrea and E. Pulcini (see the related personal web pages). The Political Philosophy Groupis is a member of the Network of Excellence GARNET (Global Governance, Regionalisation and Regulation: the Role of the EU), funded by the European Commission under the Sixth Framework Program. Professor Cerutti coordinates a research unit on Normative Issues of Regional and Global Governance.

INTERNATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

The group is member of the Computability in Europe Marie Curie Research training network. Among the net aims there's the organization of a series of conferences (programmed until 2009), the next of which, CIE 2007: Computation and Logic in the Real World, will be held in Siena from June 18, until June 23.
The group has recently signed up an agreement with the group of the Department of Logic and Philosophy of Science of University of California Irvine. Within this agreement it has been held on March 31 - April 1 2006, the 1st Florence Colloquium on Logic and Philosophy of Science at the Dept. of Philosophy in Florence (program). This event is programmed to be held yearly, alternating the location between Florence and Irvine (the next meeting is thus due to be held at Irvine, next Spring).
The 2nd Irvine-Florence Colloquium took place on March 23-24, 2007 at Irvine. All information concerning this agreement, can be gained by the Irvine-Florence web page (you can jump there directly by clicking here).
The third meeting of this series took place in Florence again, on Sept. 18-19 2008 (browse the program by clicking here).
