Political Philosophy
The Political Philosophy group comprises:

 

· Political Philosophy (Professor Furio Cerutti),

· Social Philosophy (Professor Elena Pulcini),

· Bioethics (Senior Researcher with teaching appointment Monica Toraldo di Francia),

· Theories of the State (Senior Researcher with teaching appointment Dr. Dimitri D’Andrea).

· Post-doctoral fellow Chiara Bottici, Ph.D. (EUI), and Renata Badii, Ph.D. (U. of Florence).


We meet every month in a Seminar of Political Philosophy, in which we discuss our own as well as our graduate students’ research projects.

 

 

As a research unit, the Group also includes Dr. Daniela Belliti, Dr. Debora Spini (Syracuse U.) and doctoral candidates Claudia Attucci (European University Institute, Fiesole) and Elena Acuti (in this Department). In this composition, the Group has been working since 1998 on philosophical aspect of globalization for the national research projects coordinated by F. Cerutti and funded by the Italian Ministry of University also publishing Filosofie della globalizzazione, edited by D. D’Andrea and E. Pulcini (see the related personal web pages). The Political Philosophy Groupis is a member of the Network of Excellence GARNET (Global Governance, Regionalisation and Regulation: the Role of the EU), funded by the European Commission under the Sixth Framework Program. Professor Cerutti coordinates a research unit on Normative Issues of Regional and Global Governance.

Andrea Cantini: proof theory and computability theory, modal logics, formal theories of truth, philosophy of logic and mathematics, history of logic and XXth century foundations of mathematics.

Elena Castellani: history and philosophy of physics, philosophy of time and space, ontology of physical theories, history and significance of symmetries, reductionism and supervenience, structural realism.

Maria Luisa Dalla Chiara: philosophy of science, quantum logic, quantum computation, philosophy and foundations of quantum mechanics, semantics of physical theories, theories of meaning.

Pierluigi Minari: non-classical logics (intermediate, modal, substructural logics), relational and algebraic semantics, proof theory and recursion theory, formal theories of truth, philosophy of mathematics.
